Stutton School Grounds
Stutton School has a large amount of school grounds which all the children
enjoy. It includes:
The Playing Field
The playing field is a large grassy area used for a lot of sports and games. It
has a football pitch which is also used for rugby touch, rounders
and sometimes hockey. It also has a
racing track which is used for Cross Country practice and Sports Day.
The Hard Area
The Hard Area is used for a range of
activities like netball, tennis, IT, Stuck,
other chasing games and sometimes skipping.
The Quiet Area
The Quiet Area is soon to be changed into a new one, which will hopefully be
a lot quieter and more pleasant. There will be tree stumps and benches to
sit on, and the sand pit will be dug out and gravel put in.
The Environmental Area
The environmental area is a place where
we grow vegetables and flowers. It also
includes a pond which contains frogs, newts, water boatmen, and lots of reeds in spring. There is also a shed which holds tools.
The Playground
The Playground is a fun place to be. It has lots of apparatus, e.g. a wobbly
bridge, a house made of wooden poles, balancing bars, a climbing frame, swings,
monkey bars and a mini house. The playground is a community playground and
anyone in the village can use it.
The Willow Dome
The willow dome is an attractive place
where children can sit and chat on the
bench. They can also run through it
when playing chasing games, or use it for a shady place on a hot day. The school built the willow dome in 2003 when parents
got to come in and do weaving sessions.
The Gazebo
The gazebo is a wooden structure with an unusual story-telling chair (that
is very tall). It has a willow screen behind it. The willow dome is often
used for a base in games.
Oak Tree
The Oak tree is the school logo, as it has been
here since the school was first built. It is often
used for a base in games.
